Are we all equal under Christ? Can we make it to Heaven? Sometimes - I think we stop trying and quit caring about our spiritual selves not necessarily because the temporal world has occupied us so - but because the religious leaders keep fighting so much that it becomes terrifying to believe these are the people to guide us into Heaven??!!
So - I've deleted what I originally wrote, because it will be a waste of words - here is all I have, the lowliest of God's people on this planet and the least deserving of exaltation amongst you all (for truly my brothers and sisters, you are all more worthy, more intelligent and more skilled than I - for I am just a man who is struggling to understand his way to the Father in Heaven), have to say:
Once there was a mountain and wind which had become great together over the years. After time, each had developed their own opinion as to their greatness. The mountain was great, and surely God had chosen it as a part of His Earth, through the years, carrying the soil of its ancestors and so, it stood its place fast, one day renting the blowing wind in twine. The wind, a powerful force to be reckoned with as it was surely God's chosen, always seeking to go faster and farther as it deserved to, having the wind of its ancestors with it, constantly tried to push the mountain over, believing that with the mountain out of its way, it could travel unhindered and not be slowed down. But, the mountain would not budge. For, as the mountain said, mountains are great, and they have been given charge by God to be His chosen ones and to point the way to the Heaven's themselves, their glory reaching the stars. Of course, the wind, was sure that the mountain was an idiot and doomed, because the wind was surely the most blessed by the Lord, being given no body to hold it down, the world to travel, and carried upon its shoulders the words of the Lord Himself.
One believed he pointed to the Heavens and guided the path to Heaven; the other, that he carried the words of Heaven unto men and thus he guided the path to Heaven... both believed they were the Savior's favorites, and chosen, amongst all others, to be God's greatest.....
But, they both couldn't be great...
So - the wind continued to blow, day in and out, week after week, month after month and year after year. And, the mountain, continued to push back, never ceasing, never quitting. Both were so sure of themselves and so caught up in what they were doing, although they never actually fought (knowing that God would not approve of such a thing), but never backed down their course, that they never saw what had happened to them until it was too late.
One Spring morning, the mountain opened his eyes, ready to be the shining beacon of God above all the Earth, when he suddenly realized - he couldn't see anything but the dirt around him. The wind woke up, ready to carry the Lord's words to everyone, when he realized - he couldn't move. The mountain looked up, and above him was the wind. the wind looked forward, and before him, down low - was the mountain. But neither could the mountain stop the wind, nor could the wind pass by the mountain - and both - were as the dirt on the ground. In tears, they cried to Heaven for an answer, and an Angel appeared to them asking, "What is it you are sad about?" The mountain cried out, "I am not above everyone! I cannot lead the way to Heaven, what has happened to me?" And, the wind cried, "I am not moving forward! I cannot carry God's words to the people, why has this been done to me?"
The Angel smiled and said unto the Mountain, "You who were made of nothing more than the dirt you are now, who had been given privilege to stand tall and carry the soil up from the Earth and have good seed planted upon you, you were so sure you were God's elect above others, that now you have become barren land, and the soil you carried has been lost - carried away by the wind that blew past you - and because of you (for some of it has been mislead by the wind, and the rest has been lost following your example) - it no longer stands high under the Lord." He then turned to the wind and said, "And you, who were the bringer of God's word unto His children, who blew without end and were able to go around the mountain, carrying the word to ALL the people and spreading His good seed across the Earth, you wanted so badly to be God's elect, that now you have become not but a faint breeze going to and fro and all those who would hear the Words of the Lord, are now without His message (for some you have mislead and the rest, were simply lost in your war)."
Then, to both of them, the Angel said, "And neither you, mountain, shall stand tall under the Lord, because you stood against the wind, nor shall you, wind, carry the Lord's message because you fought against the mountain." The angel departed and let them be. After some time, the mountain finally said, "I guess you've won - I am a mountain no more." In return, the wind said, "Well, me win? I can no longer blow, so I guess YOU won," and the two cried to God once more, and once more the angel came unto them. After hearing their complaints about why each other was giving glory and worthiness over the other, the Angel smiled again and said, "It seems to me, that you have both lost. Neither of you was greater than the other. Under God, you are equal. Both of you had an obligation to be servants unto the Lord. You, mountain - you believed yourself to be exalted above all, yet the soil you carried was on top of you - and you were beneath it. You lost sight of the fact that you are equal with your brothers and sisters, and so, you neglected to follow the Lord's wishes and simply care about each other, and in your incessant battle against the wind to be exalted, you have lost everything." Then, turning, the angel spoke and said, "And you - wind - you forgot that you carry upon you the words of the Lord, and your purpose was for all you to bring the whole of your power and spread the message to everyone, and you let yourself be split apart and became weak and cared not for the people you thought you directed and commanded, and lost the message and could no longer blow."
The two cried unto the angel, saying they never fought, that they believed they were doing what they were supposed to, that they knew what was right from what God had told them.
For you, mountain - when you were in cooperation with the wind, you gained soil by its wind blowing round you because you let it move freely rather than causing it to blow hard and carry the dirt of the land past you and take your soil with it - and for you, wind, you only gained speed when you could travel around the mountain, but without it, in this empty place, like the river that turns into rapids when it works together with the rocks and speeds faster, you have nothing to push you on, and so, you have both lost." Then, the angel parted.
After some time, the wind perked its head up and spoke to the mountain, what is that sound? The mountain looked up and saw a mighty cloud, dark and filled with rain, lightening and thunder coming toward them, intending to destroy them both, and cried out, "Wind?! What shall I do? I am but barren land, now; I have no more strength in me! If that storm reaches me, then I'll be washed away and surely die!" The wind cried out, "You? What about me? The wind pushing that rain on is FAR stronger than me, and surely it will tear me apart and I will die!" The two stood in fear, helpless as the storm drew closer. Finally, the wind spoke, "I see now." The mountain asked, "See what?" The wind said, "Because the wind and the water chose to work together, as one, equal with each other..." The mountain then said, "They have become something stronger and greater than what they were before." It was true, the wind and the water had made a pact to work together to conquer and be above others and had created a terrible storm! In sadness, the two bowed their heads, realizing that they had been so arrogant, believing themselves to be privileged for so long, that they had learned their lesson too late - just before they should die.
The mountain cried, "Wind?" The wind replied, "Yes, Mountain?" The mountain said, "Wind, surely if we must die, one who once lifted up the people of the Lord and one who once carried His voice to them, surely, for a time, we were working together and we spread some good seed? Should we then die, alone?" The wind smiled and said, "No - we shouldn't - for when we were as one - we were great, weren't we?" The mountain smiled in acknowledgment, and the two contemplated their fate for a bit...
Suddenly, the wind took up the last of its strength and passed over the top of the mountain, and the mountain gave up the last of its soil and together they said, "We may not have much, but we have God - and if we work together, as He has taugh us to do, then we have His support and His love - let this be the most glorious of deaths and may we once more spread His word - if we have wronged so many, leaving them behind in our arrogant weakness, then let us be destroyed that we may carry His word to the ends of the Earth!" And, with a force the likes of which the entire Earth had not behled since creation, the wind and the mountain, joined as one force, rushed head on into the approaching dark army that sought to conquer them and be above them both - and when they collided - the whole of the Earth shook in a thunderous roar - and the Oceans shook, and the animals and people hid in fear and the lands were rattled and rocks fell and even the whole of the Hosts of the Aeons stopped to watch-
....
...
And when it was all done, the mountain opened his eyes and beheld before him - not Heaven - but the old familiar face he had come to know so well over the years - and the wind opened his eyes, and also did not see Heaven, but smiled back at the mountain, saying, "What - what happened to us?" And a familiar friend to them both - the Angel who had spoken to them from the beginning, that they had not recognized before, but now realized was the Lord Himself, appeared. The mountain cried out, "Forgive us, for we did not recognize you at first - although I don't know why - or how we are still alive?" And, the angel laughed in delight and said, "My children - you didn't recognize me because you were so caught up in your own affairs rather than mine, that you did not know your King when He came unto you. And, as for your current state - it is only because you finally trusted in me. Had you never fought, that storm would have never approached, for the site of you two together caused it fear!" To this, the wind and the mountain were shocked - never thinking that when they were together before, that they had such influence against darkness!
"But, when you humbled yourselves, and neither of you was above the other, and neither of you believed the other to be in any greater esteem, not by title of Wind or Mountain, but to be equal as brothers, and when you worked together, you let the light within you, that I have already given unto you to do great things with, shine! And, the darkness could not withstand it. The rain settled upon you mountain, causing your dirt to turn to good soil and take roots within it, hardening you until you were strong again. The dark wind, torn by the mountain, was swallowed up by you, wind, and you were made strong once more, and as you blew around the mountain intentionally, spreading yourself evenly, and as the mountain no longer fought against you, but helped you gain in speed, the two of you blew away the darkness and the sun was revealed once more. And now, mountain, should you continue to be as an equal with your brother, and humble under all people, then you shall continue to be a giant - only insomuch as you help the soil upon you grow and lift it upward toward the Heavens, and you, wind, should you continue to be as an equal with your brother, and humble enough to carry the good seed with you, then you shall travel farther and faster than ever before and shall continue to be a great force not to be reckoned with!
But, make no mistake, it is good that you recognize me now, for now you know the truth of why men fear me. For, on one hand I have offered you greatness, when you are humble, and without title, as an equal and you live well amongst one another, but on the other, you can be destroyed, not by mine own hand, but by yours. That is the point of free will, and you both must choose your path." And, with that, the Lord departed back unto the Heavens.
As for the wind and the mountain? Well - look outside!! To this day - all four elements of the Lord have learned to get along with one another and live in harmony and do as they should. The ground carries the water even while it is slowly worn away and the rivers made smaller, but they both do as they should. The sun and moon never cease in their travels and we never suffer from their disobedience to the Lord.
But - those are His four elements - which include the beasts of the Earth who are constantly in perfect obedience unto their duties as their birth calls. However, ashes to ashes and dust to dust we art. Our spirits - the fifth element that separates us - that caused Christ to have to appear as Man instead of any other creature for we were the only to go against the Lord - that is the element that has been worn down and had its strength leave it. Only when we become equal - man, woman and child, mother and father and son and daughter - and we are good to one another insomuch as we are humble and no person is any better than the other, that we may weather the coming storm - and from it - be as strong as mountains and as powerful as the wind, once more. Thanks be to God - for these words I write in His Everlasting name, Amen.
